Detroit Lions mandatory minicamp Biggest standouts from Day 2

The Detroit Lions took part in their second of three mandatory minicamp practices on Wednesday and will wrap up the three-day event on Thursday before taking a small break ahead of closing out organized team activities from June 10-12. In case you missed anything from yesterday’s session, you can check out our biggest takeaways to get caught up.Best porn XXX. Otherwise, we move on to the biggest standouts from Day 2. On the list, we have a few players who are making back-to-back appearances after being mentioned in our standouts article from Day 1. Find out who they are and the rest of our list by scrolling down below. Turner got the better of veteran Michael Badgley, with the rookie making all six of his attempts while Badgley missed two of his, according to Pride of Detroit’s Jeremy Reisman. Both kickers attempted from 56, 55, 54, 52, 34 and 33, but Badgley misfired from 55 and 56. Typically we wouldn’t make a huge deal about missing kicks from that kind of distance, but we will since Turner made his. This competition appears to be very close as mandatory minicamp wraps up on Thursday. Per Tim Twentyman of DetroitLions.com, Williams had a good day on Wednesday, highlighted by a great over-the-shoulder catch on a beautifully thrown ball by Jared Goff that we have a clip of. First, Twentyman’s thoughts: I thought wide receiver Jameson Williams had a nice day Wednesday. He made a lunging catch along the right sideline early in practice in a team drill. In the same drill, he made a contested catch over the middle. Later, Goff launched a deep ball down the right sideline in a 7-on-7 period and Williams made a nice over-the-shoulder grab after a little bit of hand fighting on tight coverage from Davis. And here’s the clip we mentioned: BIG PLAY WAYMO@bigsgjamo pic.twitter.com/b03MRZ32eJ Loving the Amon-Ra St. Brown-like ball chuck at the end of the play. Making that catch even better is the fact that it came against veteran Carlton Davis. It’s great to see the connection Goff and Williams have developed, and that will play huge dividends in Williams’ quest for a breakout season. It certainly wasn’t a perfect day for Hooker, but he did show improvement after a rough day on Tuesday. Per Reisman, Hooker showed impressive accuracy in what was dubbed his “best practice.” Unfortunately, Hooker’s “mental mistakes are far too prevalent” and he continues to hold on to the ball for too long. That said, it’s a great sign that Hooker was at least able to bounce back after a tough first day of minicamp. After tallying a pair of pressures on Tuesday, Onwuzurike was back at it again with two more pressures. Adding to that, he received plenty of praise from head coach Dan Campbell, who noted how good the former second-round pick has looked. “Levi is having a really good spring,” Campbell said, per Jeff Risdon of Lions Wire. “(Josh) Paschal is too but Levi – because where he’s come from and all he’s had to deal with, I mean, this guy just has continued to rehab, he’s continued to train his body and work, he’s put on weight because his back can handle it now, we got him through last year to where he’s able to bank some reps and he’s having a really good spring.” There has been no shortage of people understandably writing Onwuzurike off, but perhaps that needs to change. Granted, the pads haven’t come on yet, but he’s off to about as good a start this offseason as one could hope for. Like Onwuzurike, Davis makes back-to-back appearances on our standouts lists. After a pair of scores on Tuesday, Davis made a great diving catch on Wednesday, per Twentyman, who noted that we should “keep an eye on” the wide receiver who has “made some nice plays over the last couple of days.” Detroit has no shortage of question marks in the receiving corps. behind St. Brown and Williams. Perhaps Davis can steal one of the final roster spots, but he’s going to need to continue this kind of play in training camp to do it. Most notably, Arnold was lined up across from Davis on the outside for the first time this spring, giving us a potential preview of the starting duo. Adding to that, the rookie “continues to impress” and had a nice pass break-up on a third-down play in a situational drill that forced a field goal, according to Twentyman.  After cutting his teeth with Bleacher Report, Mike Moraitis has covered the Los Angeles Rams and Tennessee Titans for FanSided, and the Titans and New York Giants for USA TODAY Sports Media Group.
